Dodgers News: Dodgers Place Max Muncy on Injured List With Oblique Strain

On Friday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced that third baseman Max Muncy has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 1 oblique strain. While the injury is not considered season-ending, Roberts said Muncy will likely be out longer than the minimum 10 days.

The Dodgers, who have been riddled with injuries throughout the organization, have struggled to stay healthy all season. Key pitchers such as Roki Sasaki, Kirby Yates, and Tanner Scott remain sidelined and working toward recovery. The lineup has also taken heavy hits, with Hyeseong Kim and Tommy Edman on the injured list and Kiké Hernández still rehabbing. Now, with Muncy added to the list, the Dodgers face an even greater challenge in their push for a playoff berth as the regular season winds down.

The setback comes at a pivotal point in the season. After dropping a series to the Los Angeles Angels earlier this week, the Dodgers fell to second place in the National League West, trailing the San Diego Padres by one game. They currently hold a Wild Card spot.

Muncy has been one of the Dodgers’ most productive hitters this year, batting .258 with a .389 on-base percentage, a .491 slugging percentage, and 17 home runs. In his absence, rookie Alex Freeland is expected to see extended time at third base.
