Dodgers News: Dodgers Re-Sign Chuckie Robinson to Minor League Deal

Journeyman catcher Chuckie Robinson is back with the Dodgers organization on a minor league deal

LOS ANGELES, CA—During this offseason, the Los Angeles Dodgers have seen limited activity on their Major League roster, with only two significant signings: Miguel Rojas and All-Star closer Edwin Díaz.

However, that doesn’t mean Andrew Friedman and his team haven’t been working behind the scenes to build organizational depth. Today, this is confirmed as the team’s transaction page shows the Dodgers have re-signed minor league catcher Chuckie Robinson to a minor league deal.

Robinson rejoined the organization, spending most of the 2025 season with the Dodgers after being claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels in May.

Robinson was reassigned from the 40-man roster shortly after joining the Dodgers, having previously appeared in one MLB game on September 15.

This was Robinson’s only significant MLB appearance of the 2025 season, and the Braves claimed him off waivers a week later. In early November, Atlanta outrighted Robinson from its 40-man roster. Since he had already been outrighted before, Robinson chose to become a free agent.

The game on September 15 marked Robinson’s 52nd Major League appearance, after his previous seasons where he played 25 games with the Reds in 2022 and 26 games with the 2024 White Sox. His overall big league stats are modest, with a .131/.169/192 slash line in 138 plate appearances. Even in Triple-A, his numbers are only somewhat better, showing a .268/.329/.405 line with 27 home runs over 1039 plate appearances.

Although Robinson lacks offensive pop, his strong defensive reputation continues to keep him as a backup option for various teams. He will now return to Los Angeles in a depth role, as the Dodgers’ depth behind the plate includes All-Star Will Smith as the starter and former top prospect Dalton Rushing as the backup.

Robinson is the sole catcher in the Dodgers’ system with MLB experience, so Los Angeles may consider adding more catching options for Spring Training mainly for evaluation.
