Dodgers News: Dodgers Re-Sign Nick Frasso to Minor League Deal
Recently, former top prospect Nick Frasso, who was DFA’d, has re-signed with the Dodgers on a minor league contract.

LOS ANGELES, CA—With roster spots limited this winter, the Los Angeles Dodgers had to create space whenever possible, resulting in the removal of several long-term players, including right-handed pitchers Tony Gonsolin (DFA’d) and Evan Phillips (non-tendered).
However, last month, another 40-man roster member, former top prospect Nick Frasso, was non-tendered. He was added last season and was not yet eligible for arbitration.
The Dodgers obtained Frasso in an August 2022 trade that also sent Mitch White and Alex De Jesus to the Toronto Blue Jays. Subsequently, he started climbing the prospect rankings.
Frasso was added to the 40-man roster in November 2023 to shield him from the Rule 5 Draft, and MLB Pipeline ranked him as the No. 80 overall prospect for the 2024 season.
Frasso missed the whole season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Although it wasn’t publicly announced at the time, his shoulder surgery took place before the Rule-5 deadline. In March 2024, he also needed a cleanup procedure on his right hip’s labrum.
In 2025, after returning to the mound, Frasso struggled to recapture his form, ending with a 5.49 ERA over 77 innings in Triple-A. He ultimately finished the season on the 60-day injured list to accommodate the signing of Andrew Heaney.
Frasso should join the Dodgers in Spring Training to help pitch innings. However, he needs to demonstrate the same skills he showed in 2023, which made him a highly-rated prospect, to be considered for a future call-up, which would also mean he’d need to be re-added to the 40-man roster.
