Dodgers News: Dodgers Reportedly Finalize New Deal with Kiké Hernández
The Dodgers bolster their bench with the expected return of the fan-favorite utility player.

LOS ANGELES, CA—In what felt like an inevitability with spring training set to kick off tomorrow for the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team has reportedly re-signed fan-favorite veteran utility infielder Kiké Hernández, per himself, on a recent Instagram post today.

The two sides have shown mutual interest in a reunion since the start of the 2026 offseason, with Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reporting as such back in November.
Hernández had a down year in 2025 for Los Angeles, hitting just .203/.255/.366 with eight doubles, 10 home runs, and 35 RBIs in 92 games this past summer; however, much of that could be attributed to an elbow injury that had bothered him since May.
The 34-year-old still delivered a signature moment, teaming with Rojas on a game-winning double play in Game 6 of the World Series to force a winner-take-all showdown in Toronto. He also added some classic October magic during the NLDS against the Phillies.
Even though Hernández is expected to be sidelined for most of the first half of the 2026 regular season, he’ll rejoin the Dodgers bench in his valuable utility role in the team’s quest to win their third consecutive World Series and the 4th of his career.
The move has yet to be made official, but it’s likely the team will transfer recent re-signed right-hander Evan Phillips to the 60-day injured list as he rehabs from last year’s Tommy John surgery.
