Dodgers News: Dodgers Showed Little Interest in Durán or Jax, Per Twins Insider
Despite the Dodgers' apparent need for a right-handed arm for the bullpen, per Twins insider Bobby Nightengale, the team showed little interest in Durán or Jax.
LOS ANGELES, CA—The 2025 Major League Baseball trade deadline has come and gone with the Los Angeles Dodgers making two marginal moves for their 26-man roster, along with a few trades solidifying their now number one-ranked farm system.
One area that the Dodgers were planning on addressing all summer at this year’s deadline was the bullpen, specifically a right-handed relief option who excelled at getting right-handed hitters out.
Los Angeles was linked to multiple high-profile names around the league, including Ryan Helsley of the St. Louis Cardinals and Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Pete Fairbanks.
However, two names that drew the most attention, according to multiple reports, were Minnesota Twins right-handed pitchers Griffin Jax and Jhoan Durán.
Neither arm ultimately ended up in Los Angeles, with Jax heading to the Rays and Durán heading to the Philadelphia Phillies.
However, Twins insider Bobby Nightengale, in his latest column, reports that the Dodgers were never particularly interested in either Twins arm, and the Twins were never sold on the package of prospects Los Angeles was offering.
The Dodgers didn’t show much interest in Duran or Jax, and the Twins valued Outman more than the prospects who were discussed.
In turn, the Dodgers opted for a reunion with former right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart, who revitalized his career in Minnesota over the last three seasons.
In hindsight, the trade for Stewart alone has backfired for Andrew Friedman and Co. as the righty was just placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
However, the Dodgers were unwilling to meet the high cost of acquiring multiple arms in the relief market, especially for Jax or Durán, given that they would be under team control for multiple seasons.
