Dodgers News: Dodgers Sign Nick Robertson to Minor League Deal

LOS ANGELES, CA—While the Los Angeles Dodgers have allegedly damaged baseball by signing four-time All-Star Kyle Tucker to a large 4-year, $240 million contract, they have also been working on strengthening their minor league depth during the winter.
Ari Alexander of Boston 7 News reports that the Dodgers signed right-handed pitcher Nick Robertson to a minor league deal. This marks a reunion, as Los Angeles originally drafted Nick in 2019.
Robertson had a brief stint in the majors with Los Angeles, making nine appearances before being traded to the Red Sox along with minor league pitcher Justin Hagenman in the deal that reacquired Kiké Hernández for the Dodgers.
His time with Boston was short, as he only appeared nine times at the major league level. During the 2023-24 offseason, the Sox traded him to St. Louis in the Tyler O’Neill deal.
Over the last two years, Robertson has changed teams within the league via waiver transactions. He was part of the Angels, Blue Jays (a move that attracted some notice due to the Maple Leafs player sharing his name), and Astros.
He played once in MLB for Toronto but did not reach the major leagues with Los Angeles or Houston. The Astros released him in August, and he ended the season on a minor league deal with the Royals.
In a limited sample of 35.2 innings, the right-hander has a 5.30 ERA despite showing decent strikeout and walk rates.
Robertson has posted an ERA of 4.46 earned runs per nine innings across parts of four Triple-A seasons. His strikeout rate is 26.2%, but he also has a relatively high walk rate of 11.3%. His pitching repertoire includes a four-seam fastball, slider, and changeup, with an average fastball velocity of 93.4 MPH in Triple-A last year—slightly lower than the velocity during his initial time with the Dodgers organization.
