Dodgers News: Dodgers Swing Trade for Alex Call

LOS ANGELES, CA—While the Los Angeles Dodgers somewhat fixed their bullpen need earlier today by acquiring right-handed relief pitcher Brock Stewart from the Minnesota Twins, the team still wanted to address their outfield.
Well, that appears to be the next step in the final hour of the 2025 Major League Baseball trade deadline as Los Angeles has reportedly acquired Alex Call from the Washington National, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Going back to Washington are two pitching prospects, right-hander Eriq Swan (Dodgers’ No. 16 prospect per MLB Pipeline) and right-hander Sean Paul Liñan (No. 20).
Call, 30, is having a decent season for the Nationals, batting .274/.371/.386 with a 118 wRC+, along with playing above-average defense in the outfield.
The right-handed hitting outfielder looks to be destined for a potential platoon with the left-handed hitting Michael Conforto, whose bat has come alive in July as the former San Francisco Giant is hitting .273 with a 132 wRC+ over the last month.
While Conforto has posted reverse splits this season, Call has also posted a .807 OPS versus Southpaws this season and could help solidify the Dodgers’ defense late in games, especially with the loss of James Outman, who was traded to the Twins in the Stewart deal.
While Call does not have the upside potential that a Steven Kwan would’ve provided, along with little to no pop, the righty does not chase or strikeout much, as shown by his 97th percentile ranking in Chase% and 83rd percentile ranking in K%.
