ARLINGTON— The Los Angeles Dodgers have DFA’d veteran outfielder Eddie Rosario before today’s series finale against the Texas Rangers.
Rosario, 33, signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers this winter with an invitation to spring training.
Despite not making the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster in Japan or the States, Rosario opted to stay with the Dodgers and accept his minor league demotion to Triple-A OKC.
The veteran outfielder had gotten off to a fast start this season, hitting .339 with a .948 OPS, two home runs, twelve RBIs, and three stolen bases in fifty-nine minor league at-bats.
Upon his call-up, Rosario went a combined 1-for-4 in his short two games with the Dodgers, and now the club will have a ten-day window to decide whether to release or trade him.
With the DFA, the Dodgers also activated two-way player Shohei Ohtani from the paternity list, and he is now with the team in Arlington and expected to be in the starting lineup in today’s rubber match.
