Dodgers News: Evan Phillips Placed on 15-day IL; Matt Sauer Recalled from Triple-A OKC

MIAMI—During today’s game against the Miami Marlins, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced that they’ve placed right-handed relief pitcher Evan Phillips on the 15-day injured list with forearm tightness.
Phillips, 30, had appeared in seven of the Dodgers’ fourteen games since being activated off the 15-day injured list on April 19th after rehabbing his partially torn rotator cuff from last fall.
Phillips appeared in seven games for the Dodgers this season, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings since his activation, collecting six strikeouts.
The Dodgers’ bullpen has pitched more innings than any team in Major League Baseball this season, and with the team short on arms, they’ll look to Matt Sauer, who was activated today in place of Phillips.
Sauer, 26, has been impressive for the Dodgers this season. In his three previous stints with the Major League team, he has a 2.70 ERA in 6.2 innings.
Sauer’s last outing was equally impressive. The righty tossed five innings of one-run ball against the Miami Marlins at Dodger Stadium on April 29th.
