While the Los Angeles Dodgers enjoy their scheduled Monday off day after their split-squad sweeps over the Athletics and Chicago White Sox, the team announced its first round of roster cuts late yesterday afternoon.
Overall, the Dodgers reassigned eight players to minor league camp, including right-handed pitchers Nick Frasso, Carlos Duran, Julian Fernandez, and Justin Jarvis, along with outfielders Ryan Ward, Just Dean, Zyhir Hope, and Josue De Paula. The roster now sits at fifty-nine players with a little over two weeks left of Cactus League play.
Despite the reassignment, any player sent to Minor League camp remains eligible to participate in Cactus League games. The Dodgers are in their one off day of the spring before embarking on eight straight to close out the Cactus League before heading to Tokyo, Japan.
For the first two games of the regular season, the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster can consist of thirty-one players, as was the case last season when the Dodgers started the 2024 regular season in Seoul, Korea.
Once the team returns to the States, they’ll play three exhibition games against the Los Angeles Angels before finalizing its 26-man roster for domestic Opening Day at Dodger Stadium against the Detroit Tigers.
