Los Angeles Dodgers’ first baseman Freddie Freeman and his wife, Chelsea gave an update on their son and his recent diagnosis.

On July 27th, Freeman was placed on family emergency list, after being scratched from Friday’s opener against the Astros. On Thursday evening, the Freeman’s gave an update that their 3 year old son, Maximus, as he was diagnosed with Guillian-Barré syndrome.

The Freeman’s shared via Instagram about their last few days being in the hospital with Maximus and how he “rapidly declined and went into full body paralysis” and how they were “fortunate to have gotten him to the hospital in time so they could reinforce his lungs.”

Chelsea wrote how Freeman was in Houston at the time of the incident and was able to rush back to Los Angeles after being informed of his son’s health.

After many tests, it was then that Max was diagnosed with Guillian-Barré syndrome, which is a rare neurological condition in children where the immune system attacks the nerves. According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition may be triggered by an acute bacterial or viral infection.

Fortunately, the Freeman’s provided some good news in their post stating that “Maximus is such a special boy and he has been fighting SO hard. This is going to be a journey to recover, but we have faith that he will be completely healed. We are blown away by his improvements in the last 48 hours.”

It was last week, that Chelsea broke the news about Max’s journey when he was diagnosed with transient synovitis, a condition that causes temporary hip inflammation in young children that can cause pain or limping. Back during the All-Star break, Max was first diagnosed with a viral infection.

Freddie and his family have always been loved by fans and everyone here at DodgersBeat send our love to Maximus and the rest of the Freeman family. As they go through this tough journey, we are rooting for Max and wish him a speedy recovery. We all miss seeing Max during the pregame and during the games ,with his brothers, as they cheer on their dad! Get well soon, Maximus!
