Dodgers News: Gavin Stone Expects To Be “Full-Go” in Spring Training
Right-handed pitcher Gavin Stone confirmed he expects to be full-go this spring training after rehabbing his shoulder surgery in 2025.

LOS ANGELES, CA—Unlike past offseasons, the Los Angeles Dodgers head into the winter with their starting rotation considered a massive strength compared to other organizations across Major League Baseball.
That talent was on full display during the 2025 postseason and the World Series, with the starting rotation of Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitching their hearts out to secure a second consecutive title.
All of those names, along with right-handers Emmet Sheehan and Roki Sasaki, will be returning next season, but they’ll have some competition as fellow young pitchers Gavin Stone and River Ryan will be in the fold the upcoming season also.
During the General Manager Meetings earlier this month, Dodgers General Manager Brandon Gomes confirmed that both Ryan and Stone were in a good place health-wise while also stating they’d be in a good place as you’d expect a rehabbing player to be at this time of the year.
Well, Stone doubled down on that report after speaking to K8 News earlier this week.
“I just finished my rehab process, so hopefully going into next Spring Training, it’ll be full-go and we’ll see where it takes us.”
After making his MLB debut in the 2023 regular season with mixed results, Stone revamped his arsenal the following year and made significant strides in his development during the 2024 season.
Stone led the team with 11 wins, 140.1 innings pitched, and 25 starts, posting a 3.53 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 116 strikeouts and 37 walks. However, he did not pitch after August 31st, 2024, due to right shoulder inflammation.
The right-hander would then undergo season-ending right shoulder surgery and miss the entire 2025 season.
With just five or six spots available, it will be challenging for Stone to earn a place in the Dodgers’ opening rotation after Spring Training. However, he is likely to be an important backup option if an injury occurs.
Or we could see the Dodgers trade from their pitching depth, and with no guaranteed spot for Stone or Ryan, they could be moved this offseason for needs elsewhere.
