Dodgers News: Glasnow Does Not Expect to Be Traded

We can probably put the Glasnow trade rumors to bed now

LOS ANGELES, CA—With the 2026 Major League Baseball offseason moving along and the holidays fast approaching, the rumor mill has been hot, and that involves several members of the back-to-back World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

Leading up to the 2025 Winter Meeting in Orlando, Florida, two prominent members of the Dodgers roster had come up in trade discussions, according to multiple MLB insiders, including Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic: outfielder Teoscar Hernández and right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow.

Although no deal appeared imminent or close, Glasnow’s name remained notably interesting, especially given the Dodgers’ reported pursuit or discussions with the Detroit Tigers regarding two-time American League Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal.

While those rumors might seem plausible in a hypothetical Skubal trade—where the Tigers aim to compete in the AL and acquire a controllable, elite arm when healthy—the latest report from Glasnow himself puts those rumors to rest.

In an interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM, Glasnow mentioned that he had seen his name involved in trade rumors on social media. However, Dodgers President of Baseball Operations, Andrew Friedman, reassured him that he would not be traded.

“I obviously have seen the Skubal stuff, and I think that seems to be relatively real. I’ve also seen some rumors where I would get traded for him, so it’s like, I don’t know what to believe. I talked to Andrew and our front office and they were like, ‘No, you’re not going anywhere.’ They told me I’m not going to get traded, and I trust them. So that’s obviously a nice feeling.”

If Friedman had only announced to the media that the Dodgers wouldn’t trade Glasnow, the rumors might have persisted, since front office executives often release false information publicly. However, Friedman speaking directly to Glasnow carries significantly more authority.

Glasnow was instrumental in the Dodgers’ victory in the 2025 World Series, serving as both a starter and reliever as required.

The right-handed pitcher finished his second season with the Dodgers, who acquired him from the Tampa Bay Rays in December 2023. As part of the trade, the Dodgers and Glasnow agreed on a five-year contract extension worth a total of $136.5 million.

In Dodger Blue so far, the 32-year-old has posted a 13-9 record with a 3.37 ERA over 40 starts. He set a career high in innings pitched during the 2024 season but was shut down in August due to right elbow tendonitis.

Thanks to the Dodgers’ extensive starting rotation, Glasnow is likely their fourth starter, behind Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, and Shohei Ohtani. However, he would be regarded as a frontline starter on many other teams if he were available.
