Dodgers News: Glasnow Fires Off Two Scoreless Innings in First Rehab Appearance

LOS ANGELES, CA— While the Los Angeles Dodgers took care of business on Sunday afternoon against the Washington Nationals, securing a series win to conclude their ten-game homestand, down in Oklahoma City, another storyline was taking place as right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow was making his first minor league rehab appearance.
Glasnow, 31, has been on the injured list with right shoulder discomfort since the end of April. After his body had not responded to treatment in the first few weeks, the Dodgers opted to shift Glasnow to the 60-day injured list, making him ineligible to return until June 27th.
However, the right-hander threw two simulated games at Dodger Stadium this past week, and with Glasnow’s body and arm feeling fine, the Dodgers sent the righty to begin his rehab assignment as he inches closer toward a return to the Dodgers’ starting rotation.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated that Glasnow would likely need three rehab games, and Sunday was the first one where the righty was scheduled to go at least two innings.
Well, Glasnow would do just that for the Triple-A OKC Comets, tossing two scoreless innings and allowing no hits, but the command was a problem as the righty issued three walks to only one strikeout.
Glasnow threw forty-eight pitches (ninety-two strikes) on Sunday, with the velocity hovering around 96-98 mph, an encouraging sign.
The next step for Glasnow will be another rehab game, likely getting stretched out past two innings and working more on his command and feel for his pitches.
Once Glasnow returns, it’ll be a significant boost to the Dodgers’ starting rotation after losing Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, and Tony Gonsolin.
