Dodgers News: Glasnow Game Four Start Shortened Due to Cramps
Despite turning in his best postseason start, Glasnow was plagued by cramps throughout the day

LOS ANGELES, CA—The Los Angeles Dodgers have secured their spot in the National League Championship Series for the second year in a row with an exciting 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game Four.
Pitching was the storyline during the game for both sides, but particularly right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow, who was making his first postseason start in a Dodgers uniform, having just appeared out of the bullpen in Game One of the National League Division Series on Saturday.
It was Glasnow’s first start since the righty pitched for the Tampa Bay Rays during the 2023 season after he missed all of last October due to a right elbow injury.
Glasnow was every bit as advertised when the Dodgers handed him that multi-year contract extension, tossing six scoreless innings while collecting eight punch outs and just surrendering two hits and a walk.
So, many fans were surprised when Glasnow was taken out of the game before the seventh inning with just 83 pitches. Well, we got our answer after the game as Glasnow had been experiencing cramps throughout the start, an issue he’s dealt with multiple times this season.
“He had cramps in the fifth and sixth,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts explained after the walk-off win. “He hasn’t thrown that many pitches in a month. I felt that with the cramps, and we pushed him as far as I wanted to push him right there.”
Glasnow mentioned he began experiencing cramps near the end of the third inning, but he didn’t think it was a problem that affected his performance.
“I tried to put it out of my mind,” Glasnow said. “It didn’t affect anything. I think when I got around it sometimes and I was late, it started to cramp a little bit more. But I didn’t think about it too much, and it was fine.”
Despite experiencing cramps, Glasnow delivered his best postseason start to date. It was only the third time he pitched six innings in a playoff game, but notably, it was the first time he didn’t give up multiple runs in such a lengthy outing.
After missing the 2024 postseason because of injury, Glasnow was excited to take the mound this October. He had already appeared once in relief, but now he can proudly say he started in the playoffs for the team he has supported since childhood.
“It means everything,” Glasnow said. “It’s been a dream of mine for a long time, not only to play for the Dodgers but in the postseason, in meaningful games. It just feels incredible.”
