ATLANTA, GA — Major bummer news on the Glasnow front today. The Dodgers’ prized righthander’s recovery from an elbow injury hit a concerning snag on Friday. Scheduled to pitch in a simulated game at Truist Park, the Dodgers’ star right-hander felt discomfort during warmups, forcing him to call off the session. After throwing roughly 20 pitches, Glasnow informed the team he didn’t feel right, prompting him to walk back to the clubhouse instead of the mound.

“He didn’t really describe anything,” pitching coach Mark Prior said to reporters. “He just said it wasn’t good. It didn’t feel like he should take it out there.”

This setback complicates Glasnow’s hopes of returning before the end of the regular season. The 31-year-old ace has been sidelined since August 16 due to elbow tendinitis, his second injury this season after dealing with a back issue earlier in July.

Manager Dave Roberts acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, calling the development a “red flag” while still leaving room for optimism. “It’s certainly not dead,” Roberts said to the press in a pregame gaggle. “But today, I thought we made the right decision.”

Glasnow had been trending upward, having completed two encouraging bullpen sessions in recent days. However, with this latest setback, his return before a potential playoff run is now even more uncertain. The Dodgers will reassess Glasnow’s condition in the coming days and may order further tests to determine the severity of the discomfort.

In his 22 starts this season, Glasnow has largely lived up to expectations, posting a 9-6 record with a 3.49 ERA and 168 strikeouts over 134 innings. However, with the season winding down, any further delay could shut the window on his return.

“It’s certainly not helpful and positive,” Roberts added. “We’ll see how he feels tomorrow, but we’re running out of time.”
