LOS ANGELES — Jackie Robinson Day has always been a cornerstone of Major League Baseball’s calendar, but the 2025 celebration brings an even deeper commitment to honoring Robinson’s enduring legacy—both on and off the field. Under the MLB Together platform, this year’s observance goes beyond tradition, blending powerful symbolism, community outreach, and educational initiatives across the league, including right here at Dodger Stadium.

A Sea of Dodger Blue — Every Player Wears 42

As always, April 15 means every MLB player, coach, and manager dons number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson. But this year, every uniform will feature Robinson’s number in Dodger blue—regardless of the team’s official colors. The tribute is a striking reminder that it all began in Brooklyn, when Robinson broke baseball’s color barrier in a Dodgers jersey in 1947.

In addition to the jerseys, all teams will wear New Era caps featuring a “42” side patch, Nike “Breaking Barriers” T-shirts during batting practice, commemorative base jewels, and royal blue socks. These on-field tributes connect players across the league in a united display of respect.

A Tribute Worth Watching

A special tribute video produced by MLB Network, featuring softball star and analyst AJ Andrews, will be shown in all 30 ballparks. It will also stream on MLB.com, MLB.TV, and across MLB’s social platforms, allowing fans everywhere to reflect on Robinson’s legacy.

Giving Back Through Service and Education

Honoring Jackie means more than just wearing his number. It’s about living out his values. On April 15, MLB staff and volunteers will assemble 200 hygiene kits for the Henry Street Settlement’s CONNECT program, which provides long-term support to individuals facing mental health challenges.

And in the spirit of youth empowerment, MLB and the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) continue their deep partnership. To date, the league has contributed over $20 million toward JRF scholarships for more than 150 students from underrepresented communities. Many of these scholars—and alumni—are being recognized at ballparks around the country today, including at Dodger Stadium.

MLB also hosted the 2025 Trailblazer Series for girls aged 13 and under at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida. A celebration of Robinson’s impact and the future of the sport, the series brought together hundreds of girls from across North America for three days of skill-building and inspiration.

Meanwhile, the MLB ID Tour, which reached underserved communities in Washington D.C. and the Bronx, continues to identify and support the next generation of baseball talent.

Education for All Ages

MLB has also launched kid-friendly education activities available on MLBTogether.com/42. These printable materials—word scrambles, coloring pages, and more—help introduce young fans to Robinson’s life, courage, and legacy.

In New York City, participants from Nike RBI programs and their families are visiting the Jackie Robinson Museum for a special day of learning with MLB and JRF staff. Special guests include Commissioner Rob Manfred, Rachel Robinson, and former Yankees stars CC Sabathia and Dellin Betances.

The Digital Celebration

MLB The Show, the league’s award-winning video game, continues to honor Robinson’s memory with custom uniforms, themed modes, and a special Jackie Robinson Foundation Pack that supports JRF scholars through the PlayStation Career Pathways Program.

Across MLB Network, fans can catch live coverage from the Jackie Robinson Museum, including interviews with five MLB Develops alumni now playing Division 1 baseball—and all proudly wearing #42.

On social media, fans can expect an outpouring of Robinson-themed content in both English and Spanish: custom illustrations, historic highlights, infographics, and more.

Back to Where It Began: Holman Stadium

The Jackie Robinson Training Complex—once the Spring Training home of the Dodgers—will host a Minor League game tonight between the Clearwater Threshers and the Palm Beach Cardinals at historic Holman Stadium. The event, hosted by MLB and the United Way of Indian River County, raises funds for local services while honoring Jackie’s legacy in a place he once called home.

This year’s Jackie Robinson Day isn’t just a tribute—it’s a call to action. It’s a reminder of how far baseball has come, and how far we still have to go. For the Dodgers and fans everywhere, today is about reflection, unity, and carrying forward the values that made Jackie Robinson a legend.
