Dodgers News: Hyeseong Kim just did something that NOBODY has ever done!

Have a day, Hyeseong!

LOS ANGELES — On Saturday, Dodgers rookie utility man Hyeseong Kim did something no player in the modern era of Major League Baseball has ever done. In a single game, Kim recorded at least four hits, a home run, an unassisted double play, and an outfield assist—becoming the only player since 1900 to accomplish all four feats in one game.

The performance came during a dominant win by the Dodgers, but Kim’s stat line stood out on its own as one of the most remarkable all-around displays in recent memory. According to OPTASTATS social media account, no player in the modern era had ever combined those four accomplishments in the same game. That’s more than 120 years of baseball history—and Kim just became the first.

Kim went 4-for-4 at the plate, including a home run, while driving in runs and reaching base every time throughout the game. In the first inning, when the Dodgers batted around, Kim walked, only to be left on the bases. In the second, the Comet flexed the power, blasting his second homer of the year to right field. In the fifth, he led off with an opposite field single. In the sixth, he ripped another single to left. Then in the eighth, a double off position player Pablo Reyes. His offensive production helped fuel an already potent Dodgers lineup that jumped all over the opposing pitching staff early and never looked back.

But it was Kim’s defensive contributions that elevated the night from great to historic. In the third, while playing shortstop, Kim snagged a hot liner off the bat of former Dodger farmhand Jorbit Vivas, and with cat-like quickness, dove to the bag to double up Austin Wells at second. In that one play, Kim showcased both baseball instincts and precision execution. Then, after moving to centerfield late in the game, Kim gunned down Aaron Judge as the Yankee slugger tried to stretch a single into a double.

It’s rare enough for a fielder to record either of those plays in a single game. To do both—and add four hits and a homer to the stat line—is unprecedented.

The Dodgers have seen their share of breakout performances this season, but Kim’s all-around brilliance was something different. A newcomer to the roster this year, he’s already earned praise for his versatility and energy. Saturday’s game cemented his status as one of the most dynamic players on the team, and perhaps in the league. This boy is staying put, folks.

While the Dodgers’ offense has been powered by star names like Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Will Smith, the emergence of Kim as a multi-tool contributor adds even more depth to an already dangerous squad. Performances like this could help separate the Dodgers from the rest of the pack as the season progresses.

For fans, it was a night to remember—not just for the team’s offensive fireworks, but for a truly unique combination of skill, timing, and execution by a rookie who now holds a place in MLB history.

With this performance, Hyeseong Kim didn’t just help the Dodgers win—he carved his name into the record books in a way no player ever has before.
