Dodgers News: Julio Urías Set to Be Reinstated Following Domestic Violence Suspension

Former Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías has completed his suspension under Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy and is expected to be reinstated on Thursday, according to his agent, Scott Boras.

Boras confirmed to Los Angeles Times reporter Bill Shaikin that Urías plans to resume his MLB career.

“He still has every intention to continue his career,” Boras said Monday. “He’s getting in shape. Obviously, he’ll have options that are open to him.”

While Boras did not disclose whether any teams have made formal offers, there is a belief around the league that some clubs have already expressed interest in the 28-year-old left-hander.

Urías has not pitched in the majors since 2023, when he posted a 4.60 ERA across 113 innings, which was expected to be his walk year before free agency. At the time, he was projected to command a significant contract. However, those plans were derailed after he was placed on administrative leave in September and subsequently suspended under the league’s domestic violence policy.

This marked Urías’s second violation of MLB’s domestic violence policy. In 2019, he was arrested and charged with domestic battery, which resulted in a 20-game suspension. He served that suspension during the 2020 season, returning to help the Dodgers capture their first World Series title in 32 years. Urías famously recorded the final out of the 2020 Fall Classic against the Tampa Bay Rays.

With his suspension now complete, Urías is eligible to sign with any Major League team. As of now, no official deal has been announced.
