Dodgers News: Kershaw, Yamamoto make All-Star Team

LOS ANGELES — Two of the Dodgers’ most impactful arms in 2025 are headed to Atlanta.

During Sunday’s game against the Astros, it was announced that Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Clayton Kershaw have been selected to represent the Los Angeles Dodgers at the 2025 All-Star Game. The news marks another high point in what’s already been a strong season for the first-year sensation from Japan and a milestone year for the franchise icon.

For Yamamoto, the selection is a well-earned first-time reward for an impressive first half of his second MLB season. The 25-year-old right-hander enters the break with an 8–6 record, 2.51 ERA, 109 strikeouts, and a 1.01 WHIP over 96.2 innings pitched in 17 starts. He’s been one of the National League’s most consistent and dominant starters, routinely giving the Dodgers quality outings and helping to anchor a rotation that has faced injuries and constant shuffling.

The selection is especially meaningful considering Yamamoto’s rapid adjustment to Major League Baseball after coming over from NPB this past offseason. He has quickly established himself as a front-line starter, mixing pinpoint command with a deep arsenal that’s baffled hitters across the league.

Meanwhile, Clayton Kershaw continues to add to his Hall of Fame résumé with another All-Star nod—the 11th of his legendary career.

Though he began the year on the injured list, Kershaw returned in June and has been nothing short of excellent since rejoining the rotation. He currently holds a 4–0 record with a 3.43 ERA across nine starts, totaling 44.2 innings with 32 strikeouts and a 1.25 WHIP. His inclusion on the All-Star roster is as much about history as it is about performance.

In his last start against the White Sox, Kershaw became just the 20th pitcher in MLB history to reach 3,000 career strikeouts, further solidifying his status as one of the greatest to ever take the mound. It was a moment that drew a long standing ovation from fans, teammates, and opponents alike—a milestone years in the making.

For Dodger fans, seeing both Yamamoto and Kershaw head to the Midsummer Classic is a testament to the blend of old and new that defines this year’s roster. Yamamoto represents the club’s bold future; Kershaw, the steady brilliance of its past and present.

With manager Dave Roberts set to lead the National League squad, the Dodgers will be well represented both on the field and in the dugout at Truist Park on Tuesday, July 15. For Roberts, getting to manage Yamamoto and Kershaw in the All-Star Game is not just a professional honor—it’s a full-circle moment as he continues to guide a team built on both youth and experience.

As the Dodgers push toward another postseason run, having two All-Star arms leading the way offers even more reason for optimism in the second half.
