Dodgers News: Kiké Hernández Fine After Injury Scare in NLDS

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts gave an update on Kiké Hernández yesterday

MILWAUKEE, WI—While the Los Angeles Dodgers prepare for Game One of the National League Championship Series tomorrow against the Milwaukee Brewers, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts gave a positive update regarding Kiké Hernández’s injury from the National League Division Series.

“Kiké, from what I understand, is in a much better spot,” Roberts said. “Obviously, the couple of days have been beneficial, so I don’t think he’s going to be impacted going forward.”

Kiké Hernández seemed to injure his left leg or knee during the 11th inning of Game 4 on Thursday. A trainer examined him, but he stayed in the game and took a walk to load the bases. This brought Andy Pages to bat, and he contributed to the win by putting the ball in play to drive in the winning run.

It’s the second injury that has been reported regarding Hernández this October, as the postseason hero was removed early in Game One during the Wild Card Series after experiencing back tightness, but Roberts explained it was more of a precautionary move.

Hernández is once again having a great October, with a .318/.400/.409 slash line, three walks, and four RBIs. He played a key role in all three Dodgers wins during the NLDS.

It’s safe to say we will see Kiké Hernández back in the Dodgers lineup for Game One tomorrow, and with not many left-handed options for the Brewers, expect Max Muncy at third base and Hernández in left field.
