Dodgers News: Kiké Hernández Reveals Timetable From Left Elbow Surgery

It looks like Kiké will be sidelined going into the 2026 season

LOS ANGELES, CA—After the conclusion of the 2025 World Series and the parade that ensued, the city of Los Angeles, fan-favorite veteran utilityman Kiké Hernández announced on Instagram that he underwent successful left elbow injury.

While initially Hernández did not get too deep into the details of the surgery, using the post just as an announcement to his native land of Puerto Rico that, due to the surgery, he would not be competing in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

However, since then, Hernández opened up on the procedure, including shedding some light on how long he’s expected to be out during an appearance on “Baseball & Coffee” hosted by Adam Ottavino.

Hernández reaffirmed that the injury was not UCL-related, but that the tear went down to the bone, and the rehab time will put him out all winter and possibly during the first two months of the upcoming 2026 regular season.

“They went in thinking it was going to be an extensor release, and when they went in, they realized I had torn that thing completely off the bone. So it turned out to be an extensor repair. I’ll be out for, like, a month or two next year.”

The left elbow was an issue for Hernández since May of the 2025 regular season, at one point forcing him to miss nearly two months before returning in late-August.

Hernández posted a .203/.255/.366 batting line this year, with eight doubles, 10 homers, and 35 RBIs in 92 games. He worsened his elbow injury while diving for a catch in the National League Championship Series but still played in all 17 Dodgers playoff games and contributed to a key double play that secured Game Six of the World Series.

Although Hernández had offseason surgery, he and the Dodgers are interested in reuniting. However, with the Dodgers’ 40-man roster at 37 players and much of the offseason still ahead, this probably won’t occur until the 60-day injured list opens when players report to spring training.
