Dodgers News: Kiké Hernández’s Next Postseason Game Will Tie Dodgers All-Time Record

When Kiké Hernández steps onto the field in the World Series, he will equal the Dodgers' all-time record for postseason games played.

LOS ANGELES, CA—In consecutive seasons, the Los Angeles Dodgers have advanced through the National League and are headed to the Fall Classic. Who they will face is still to be determined, but one thing is certain: the next time Kiké Hernández takes the field, it will be a historic moment for the franchise.

With the World Series starting on Friday and Kiké Hernández expected to be in the starting lineup, it will be the 86th postseason game for the veteran utility player with the Dodgers, tying the franchise record held by Justin Turner.

Since the series is a best-of-seven, Hernández is guaranteed to surpass the franchise record by the end of the postseason. This further cements his status as an October legend of Kiké Hernández.

When asked by the media before Game Four of the National League Championship Series about the upcoming milestone, Hernández remained humble and focused on the task ahead for himself and the team.

“Humbled, fortunate,” he said when told he will be one behind Justin Turner for most postseason games in Dodgers history. “This is not just any franchise. This is the LA Dodgers. They’ve been around a long time and they have a lot of history. For a guy like me from Puerto Rico, who kind of swam against the current my entire life, to be in this position is pretty special.”

“I haven’t wanted to reflect too much because there will be a time for that once I’m done playing,” Hernández continued. “As cool as that is, and I’ll take that to the grave with me, I’m focused on today. It would be cool if my name is up there with the most Dodger World Series ever. Creeping up on playing the most playoff games as a Dodger is something I never dreamed of. I wasn’t really aware of it until you said it.”

Hernández has made a significant impact not only on the Dodgers but also in the postseason overall, boasting an elite career slash line of ,286/.356/.508 with an .863 OPS—over 100 points higher than his regular season mark of .707.
