According to Robert Murray, the Los Angeles Dodgers have claimed outfielder Taylor Trammell who was recently DFA’d by the Seattle Mariners.
The addition of Trammell has a few wrinkles as he will not only require a spot on the 40-man roster but is also out of Minor League options thus would likely have to be apart of the big league roster.
To make room on the 40-man the Dodgers released left-handed pitcher Matt Gage who the team acquired from the Yankees in the Caleb Ferguson trade.
Trammell, 26, had a .920 OPS (119 wRC+) in Triple-A last season. He’s got a good glove and speed but hasn’t been able to translate his offensive production to the Majors so far in his career, posting an 83 wRC+ in 116 games.
The news comes at a convenient time as Jason Heyward was scratched from yesterday’s lineup due to a lingering back issue.
He came in today a little sore, stiff, so decided to give him a day. Won’t be available and we’ll see [Tuesday] how he comes out.

Heyward, 34 was confirmed by Dave Roberts to be seeing back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins which by all indications looks like an IL stint will be in his future.
If Heyward is sent to the IL many fans will wonder why the team did not just call up top outfield prospect Andy Pages.
While Pages is the perfect candidate to be called up the Dodgers want him to get some playing time in the minors as he missed almost all of 2023 with a torn labrum. Pages who is the primary starting RF for OKC will likely spend a few months in the minor leagues until any call up.
