Dodgers News: LA Declines Lance Lynn’s Option

The Dodgers have reportedly declined veteran RHP Lance Lynn‘s club option for the 2024 season for 18 million dollars and will instead pay the 1 million dollar buyout.

Lynn was acquired at the 2023 trade deadline along with Joe Kelly from the White Sox as the Dodgers were desperate to start pitching due to injuries, inconsistency, and later off-the-field issues that derailed their projected rotation.

Lynn was a serviceable starting pitcher notorious for going deep into games and making a start every 5th day, which LA needed. However, this season, Lynn became overwhelmed with the long ball, giving up a career-high 44 home runs and an ERA over five in 2023.

Lynn had his moments in Dodgers Blue, but after a tough September, it looked bleak as the Dodgers headed to October, and the Dodger’s biggest weakness struggled as Lynn, Kershaw, and Miller were all ineffective. While a potential reunion is possible as the Dodgers still need starting pitching, the 18 million dollar club option was a no-brainer to decline.

Here at DodgersBeat, we have already discussed the team’s Club Options. Be sure to take a look at our predictions for the other players over the next few days.
