The Dodgers have declined the 2024 option on right-handed reliever Alex Reyes, who missed all of 2023 with a shoulder injury.
The Dodgers took a chance on Alex Reyes, who was an all-star closer for the Cardinals in 2021 but has dealt with significant shoulder issues, which led to two major surgeries. The Dodgers hoped Reyes would join the team sometime in 2023, but those dreams were put to bed once Reyes was shut down in spring training with a shoulder ailment. This injury would lead to another season-ending shoulder surgery, deciding to decline his three-million-dollar club option a no-brainer.
While the Dodgers and Reyes could come together on another deal, the Dodgers bullpen is the least of the team’s worries right now, but I would not rule out a potential reunion. Reyes is slated to make a possible return sometime mid-summer. The Dodgers have already decided to decline Lance Lynn’s option yesterday while also signing Max Muncy to a 2-year extension. Now, the team has to decide on Joe Kelly, Blake Treinen, and Daniel Hudson by November 6th.
