WASHINGTON D.C. — The Los Angeles Dodgers are recalling right-handed pitcher Landon Knack from Triple-A OKC, joining the team in Washington D.C. to start one of the two games on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The move comes as no surprise, especially given yesterday’s news that left-handed starting pitcher Blake Snell was placed on the 15-day Injured List with left shoulder inflammation, and righty Yoshinobu Yamamoto had his start pushed back to Friday. This left the Dodgers without a starter for the final two games in D.C.

Knack made his Major League debut on April 17th of last season, pitching against these same Washington Nationals and picking up his first Major League win the following week here at Nationals Park.

Overall, Knack posted a 3.65 ERA in 69.0 innings last season for the Dodgers, switching between the starting rotation and bullpen and joining the team for their run in October.

During spring training, Knack was considered for one of the final spots on the Dodgers’ pitching staff, whether in the bullpen or starting rotation, but his 8.10 ERA in four appearances prompted the Dodgers to option him to Triple-A to begin the season.

The Dodgers have already recalled right-handed pitcher Matt Sauer from Triple-A OKC as the correspondent move for Snell, who will also join the team in Washington, D.C., for the three-game set against the Nationals.

To make room on the Dodgers’ 26-man active roster, the team announced that it has optioned right-handed pitcher Justin Wrobleski to Triple-A OKC.

Wrobleski, 24, allowed eight runs on eight hits in five innings during yesterday’s 8-2 loss to the Washington Nationals.

Despite Dodgers manager Dave Roberts hinting at a possible stay in the Dodgers rotation for Wrobleski taking Blake Snell’s spot in the rotation while the lefty is on the injured list with shoulder inflammation, that will not be the case.

During yesterday’s postgame scrum, Roberts stated that they’d decide Justin’s fate on the roster before Wednesday but stated the fact he has minor league options makes the decision more straightforward.
