WASHINGTON D.C. — After today’s loss to the Washington Nationals, the Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to option right-handed pitcher Matt Suaer to Triple-A OKC as the likely roster move for left-handed pitcher Justin Worbleski.
Sauer was recalled after left-handed starter Blake Snell was placed on the 15-day Injured List due to left shoulder inflammation, and with the Dodgers needing a starter for tomorrow’s game, the team needed to make another roster move.
Sauer pitched 1.2 innings in today’s game, allowing three hits and one run in the Dodger’s 6-4 loss, bringing his season ERA to 5.40 on the year in his lone appearance.
Wrobleski, who filtered between the minor leagues and big league roster last summer, finished with a 1-2 record and a 5.70 ERA in 36.1 innings pitched.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated after the game that although Worbleski will pitch tomorrow, the team does not know if he’ll kick off the game or come in from the bullpen after an opener.
After tomorrow’s game, the Dodgers will have to make yet another roster move, as Landon Knack is here in D.C. and expected to start or pitch in the series finale on Wednesday.
