Dodgers News: Matt Sauer Recalled; José Ureña DFA’d
The Los Angeles Dodgers have DFA'd RHP José Ureña

SAN DIEGO, CA— The Los Angeles Dodgers, who will move forward with a scheduled bullpen game later tonight in San Diego, have recalled right-handed pitcher Matt Sauer from Triple-A OKC. To make room on the 26-man roster, José Ureña was DFA’d.
With a hole in the starting rotation due to the injury to right-handed pitcher Tony Gonsolin, who is expected to miss several weeks with elbow inflammation, the Dodgers will again turn to their bullpen, which continues to eat innings this season.
However, Sauer’s promotion gives the Dodgers another option for length, joining Jack Dreyer and Ben Casparius as options for tonight’s game.
In seven appearances this season for the Dodgers, Sauer has posted a 3.05 ERA in 20.2 innings pitched, including fourteen innings pitched in May, during which the righty allowed just seven runs.
The DFA of Ureña was expected, as the right-hander was out of minor league options, hence his DFA by the Toronto Blue Jays in May. However, the veteran right-hander gave the Dodgers three quality innings, allowing just one run.
