Dodgers News: Miguel Rojas Hopes to Re-Sign After this Season

Veteran infielder Miguel Rojas already has his eyes on returning to Los Angeles after this season

LOS ANGELES, CA—Although the 2025 Major League Baseball season isn’t finished, veteran utility infielder Miguel Rojas, who will soon become a free agent, has already made returning to Los Angeles a top priority this offseason.

Rojas, 36, sat down with Doug McKain at DodgersNation, expressing his desire to stay in Los Angeles for another season before possibly retiring after 2026.

“This is going to be my first priority, to sign here with the Dodgers for one more year and then after that, we’ll reevaluate where my career is going to go.”

With the Dodgers suffering from the injury bug this season, with key injuries to third baseman Max Muncy, utilityman Tommy Edman, and inconsistencies at the bottom of the batting order, Rojas has been a steady presence for the team, whether with the bat or on defense.

Overall, the veteran right-handed hitter is slashing .261/.322/.384 with a 98 wRC+, but since the second half has been even better, posting a 136 wRC+ in July and a 106 wRC+ this month.

Like most players the Dodgers covet, Rojas also possesses the ability to play multiple defensive positions, giving the team and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts flexibility.

When Andrew Friedman reacquired Rojas during the 2023 offseason, Rojas was envisioned to be a bench/role player, but an injury to Gavin Lux during spring training and a broken hand by Mookie Betts the following season have grown Rojas’s role in his two-year return.

The Dodgers decided to exercise Rojas’s 1-year, $4 million club option this past offseason. Still, with the soon-to-be 37-year-old entering free agency and the team having multiple position players ready to make the jump to the majors like Alex Freeland, it remains to be seen whether he’ll stay with the team after this October.
