Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Scratched from Lineup with Toe Injury

LOS ANGELES, CA— The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to begin a massive three-game weekend series against the New York Yankees, which kicks off tonight, and two-time Most Valuable Player Award winner and All-Star shortstop Mookie Betts will not be in tonight’s lineup.

Betts, 32, was a late scratch from the Dodgers’ Game One lineup on Friday due to a toe injury he sustained on Wednesday night after the team arrived back in Los Angeles.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated that Betts would undergo X-rays and is considered day-to-day, but was in too much discomfort to play tonight.

His status for the rest of the series is unknown, but any games missed by Betts are a significant issue for the Dodgers.

Betts was slashing .254/.338/.405 with a sub-.800 OPS this season and has struggled to get to his All-Star offensive self this season, but has been one of the best defensive shortstops in baseball.
