LOS ANGELES, CA — One of the cutest traditions that the Dodgers have adopted in recent years is their “Kids Take the Field” program, where local youngsters run out to each position player at the beginning of each game as the Dodgers take the field in the top of the first inning. After a brief interaction with a Dodger player, each kid gets an autographed ball (and presumably some encouraging words) before heading back to mom and dad in the stands.

On September 22, the last Sunday home game of the year, outfielder Mookie Betts got a special surprise when his own daughter Kynlee ran out to say hi to Dad before the game.

“You’re cute, girl!” Mookie can be heard to say on video shared on the Dodgers official social media accounts. “Did you have fun with Mommy so far?”

To which the youngster answered an enthusiastic “Yeah!” after which Mookie signed a ball for her and the two posed for a quick picture. before getting an “I love you” from Dad and ran off the field. Adorbs, as the kids say.

Betts and his wife Brianna are the proud parents of two children: five-year-old Kynlee and a son Kaj, born in April of last year.

After the game, a game in which Mookie hit a huge walk-off homer, Betts reflected on the interaction with Dodgers field reporter Kristen Watson. “It was super special,” he said. “I seen her run, and I thought, is that really Kynlee? It warmed my heart for sure, and I forgot there was even a baseball game going on.”

So did we, Mookie. So did we.
