Dodgers News: Muncy & Vesia Will Be Activated Tomorrow; Edman Soon After That
Max Muncy and Alex Vesia will return tomorrow...

BALTIMORE, MA—As the Los Angeles Dodgers aim to recover from what was probably their worst loss of the season yesterday—ruining Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s no-hitter and permitting the Baltimore Orioles to score four runs in the ninth—the team will receive much-needed reinforcements tomorrow.
According to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, prior to today’s series finale in Baltimore, the team is expected to activate left-handed pitcher Alex Vesia and left-handed hitting third baseman Max Muncy off the injured list before the start of Monday’s game versus the Colorado Rockies.
Both players have been out due to less severe oblique injuries and have been with the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate, the Oklahoma City Comets, on their minor league rehab assignment.
Through three games, Muncy is 2-for-7 with two walks and three strikeouts, with his two lone hits each being singles.
Muncy had been one of the Dodgers’ best hitters since May 1st, hitting .290 with sixteen home runs, fifty-nine RBIs, and thirty-seven runs scored in sixty games.
His absence has left a hole in the Dodgers’ infield that has failed to be filled by a rotation of players, including recently optioned top minor league prospect Alex Freeland.
Vesia, who was placed on the 15-day injured list in late August, has been deeply missed by Dave Roberts with Los Angeles, as the team seems to be running out of options to choose from late in games.
The lefty tossed two scoreless frames for OKC over the last week and collected three punch-outs. Overall, Vesia has a 2.75 ERA across fifty-nine appearances.
One name that is not ready to return just yet is utilityman Tommy Edman, who has been out since August 1st due to a right ankle sprain, a lingering injury that has followed him since last season.
So far, Edman is 3-for-11 in four minor league games with the Comets, including three additional walks.
Defensively is the main point of concern with Edman as the Dodgers want to prioritize him as the team’s starting center fielder for the stretch run; however, he has only played a handful of innings at the position, with the other games being as the team’s designated hitter.
Despite the team’s lack of focus and ability to string together wins, the activation of this trio of Edman, Muncy, and Veisa should help the Dodgers tremendously, but it won’t solve all their problems; that’ll be up to them.
