Dodgers News: NBC Reportedly Lands Clayton Kershaw for New Baseball Coverage Role

LOS ANGELES, CA—While the legendary Hall of Fame-bound left-hander Clayton Kershaw announced his retirement from professional baseball last September, ending his 18-year career as a three-time World Series champion, his role in the baseball world is not over yet, but instead will transform from playing to television.

Earlier this month, The Athletic reported that NBC, in an effort to reshape its new baseball TV rights deal, in which the network will now host “Sunday Night Baseball” and the first round of the MLB Postseason, eyed Kershaw as a possible analyst.

However, now that the deal appears to be set to happen, according to Front Office Sports.

It remains uncertain how often Kershaw will be featured on NBC’s coverage once a deal is finalized. Early reports indicated he might appear at “select events.” NBC plans to broadcast key events such as Labor Day games during the regular season and Wild Card games in the postseason, according to the deal.

Coincidentally, the Dodgers’ 2026 Home Opener is set to be broadcast by NBC on March 26th, against their National League West rival, the Arizona Diamondbacks.

NBC’s only formal announcement about its new MLB package is the return of legendary broadcaster Bob Costas to host studio coverage. Previous reports have linked Fox Sports’ Jason Benetti to the lead play-by-play role on Sunday Night Baseball. Additionally, Joey Votto and Anthony Rizzo are viewed as potential analysts to join NBC’s booth.
