Dodgers News: New Dodgers Single-A Team Unveiled: Ontario Tower Buzzers

Say hello to the new Dodgers Single-A affiliate: the Ontario Tower Buzzers

ONTARIO, CA—Prior to yesterday’s game against the San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Single-A affiliate officially revealed its new name and uniform: the Ontario Tower Buzzers.

Beginning next season, the Dodgers will switch from their previous Single-A affiliate, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, to the Los Angeles Angels organization.

The announcement took place at a special event in Ontario Town Square, unveiling a new brand and mascot that feature an aviation theme, honoring the city’s history and its large international airport.

The new name, ‘Tower Buzzers,’ is a playful and clever reference to the classic film Top Gun and the well-known line, ‘It’s time to buzz the tower.’ The team’s mascot, a bee called Maverick, emphasizes the link to the movie and its iconic hero, played by Tom Cruise.

The name was chosen to reflect both local heritage and the playful spirit of minor league baseball. “We aimed to honor that legacy and enjoy it,” said Tower Buzzers General Manager Allan Benavides. “We picked a name we believe is fun for a minor league team, instead of more traditional options like Pilots or Aviators.”

The Tower Buzzers’ color palette includes red, white, yellow, and two shades of blue—Dodger and sky. Their primary logo depicts a bee flying past a control tower. This design was created by Dan Simon from Studio Simon, a Louisville-based designer with experience working with numerous Minor League teams.

One of the benefits of the Dodgers’ new Single-A team is the state-of-the-art stadium. Named ONT Field after a naming rights agreement with Ontario International Airport, this $120 million venue aims to serve as a family entertainment hub. Its aviation-inspired elements, such as fan zones called “The Airfield” and “The Tarmac,” make the name a fitting choice.

Merchandise with the new team name and mascot was available right after the announcement, offering fans their first opportunity to wear the new gear and support the latest addition to the Dodgers family. Official merchandise can be purchased at the Minor League Baseball Online Store.
