Dodgers News: Ohtani Leads the Way as Eight Dodgers Crack MLB’s 2026 Top 100 List

Eight Dodgers make the cut as Ohtani anchors a powerhouse organization stacked for 2026.

LOS ANGELES, CA—With the 2026 Major League Baseball offseason entering its final few weeks and the start of a new season just around the corner, the annual Top 100 Right Now list was announced on MLB Network.

The defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers did well in the Top 100 rankings, with a league-leading eight players, including the No. 1 player in baseball, Shohei Ohtani.

Despite having the most players on this year’s list with eight, it is one less than Los Angeles had heading into the 2025 season. Additionally, Tyler Glasnow, Teoscar Hernández, and Roki Sasaki, who were ranked last year, did not make the list for 2026.

The New York Yankees finished second with six players on the Top 100 list, followed by the Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, and Seattle Mariners, who each landed five.

Ohtani holds the No. 1 spot for the second straight year — and probably will until someone can take it from him. The two-way superstar crushed 55 homers, led the NL in runs, slugging, and OPS, and topped all of baseball with 380 total bases on his way to a third straight MVP.

Ohtani also posted a 2.87 ERA with 62 strikeouts in 47 innings. His three-homer, 10-strikeout showing in the NLCS clincher already ranks among the greatest single-game performances in MLB history.

Fellow Japanese teammate Yoshinobu Yamamoto also made massive strides in Year Two for Los Angeles, having been ranked No. 63 a year ago. This time around, the right-hander was able to remain healthy and make 30 starts, and off the heels of an impressive October run, he’s poised for even better things in 2026.

Despite struggling most of last season, Mookie Betts was able to make the transition from being a Gold Glove right fielder to a Gold Glove finalist shortstop and was still a key member for the Dodgers, collecting his third World Series ring in Dodger Blue and fourth of his career.

Will Smith continues to have a consistent career and had yet another quality season for the Dodgers, and with the departure of veteran Austin Barnes, has taken the reins of the Dodgers’ pitching staff.

Just below Will Smith in the rankings is the newest Dodger, Kyle Tucker, who had a “down” season in his lone year with the Chicago Cubs but still became an All-Star.

Father Time has yet to beat Freddie Freeman, who still proved to be one of the best hitters in the league last year. Still, he dealt with some minor injuries and a drop in power numbers, but yet again proved to be as clutch as ever since putting on a Dodger uniform.

Rounding out the last two spots for Los Angeles is left-hander Blake Snell, who missed a massive chunk of the regular season in Year One of a new five-year contract but showed up when it mattered in October.

The Dodgers’ newest closer, Edwin Díaz, is well regarded as the best bullpen arm in the sport, and with the Dodgers having a massive need for a late-inning right-handed arm, Díaz fits that bill.
