Dodgers News: Ohtani Makes Dodgers History Over Weekend with his 135th Run Scored
Ohtani's historic run as a Dodger continued on Sunday

LOS ANGELES, CA—Shohei Ohtani has had a remarkable first two seasons as a two-way superstar with the Dodgers, winning the 2024 National League MVP, a World Series Championship, and this season, surpassing his own record for the most runs scored in Dodgers history.
During the weekend in San Francisco, Ohtani achieved his 135th run, the most in the league, surpassing his previous career-best of 134 runs set last season.
On Sunday, Ohtani reached a milestone by scoring on Tommy Edman’s hit in the ninth inning, marking his 135th run of the season—the most in the Majors. He had already set a franchise record as the only Dodgers player to score 120 or more runs twice in one season.
This achievement comes just weeks after Ohtani became the fastest Dodger to reach 100 home runs with the team, accomplishing this in 294 games—surpassing former Dodger Gary Sheffield, who reached 100 in 399 games.
The two-way star is having another outstanding season at the plate, currently leading the National League in slugging percentage (.612), on-base plus slugging (1.007), extra-base hits (78), and total bases (341). Additionally, Ohtani is second in home runs (49) and walks (103).
Ohtani still has a chance to break the franchise’s all-time runs scored record, with thirteen games left. The record is held by Hub Collins, who scored 148 runs for Brooklyn in 1890.
Another Dodgers record that Ohtani might break this season is for walks. He currently has 103, just shy of Jim Wynn’s 110, set in 1975. Eddie has a Dodgers player who achieved consecutive MVPs and set the overall team record with 148 walks while with Brooklyn in 1945.
