Dodgers News: Ohtani Named Winner of 2025 Hank Aaron Award

Ohtani has won his third straight Hank Aaron Award

LOS ANGELES, CA—On the same night Shohei Ohtani, the two-way superstar, was unanimously named the National League Most Valuable Player for the second straight season and received the Edgar Martinez Outstanding Designated Hitter Award, he was also announced as the recipient of the 2025 Hank Aaron Award.

Ohtani posted a .282/.392/.622 batting line with 25 doubles, nine triples, 55 home runs, 146 runs scored, 102 RBIs, and a 172 wRC+ over 158 games in his second year with the Dodgers. His 1.014 OPS ranked second in MLB behind Judge.

Ohtani achieved several notable milestones, including becoming the first MLB player to hit precisely 55 home runs in a single season. He also set a new Dodgers’ franchise record by exceeding his previous total of 54 home runs from last season.

Ohtani has now secured the Hank Aaron Award for three consecutive seasons, a streak that began in his final year with the Los Angeles Angels in 2023.

With that achievement, Ohtani became the second player after Alex Rodriguez (2001-2003) to earn three consecutive honors in MLB history. He is also one of just four players to have won the award at least three times, alongside Rodriguez (2001-2003, 2007), Barry Bonds (2001-2002, 2004), and Judge (2022, 2024-2025).

Finalists for the 2025 NL Hank Aaron Award included Pete Alonso (New York Mets), Corbin Carroll (Arizona Diamondbacks), Geraldo Perdomo (Diamondbacks), Kyle Schwarber (Philadelphia Phillies), Juan Soto (New York Mets), Fernando Tatis Jr. (San Diego Padres), Kyle Tucker (Chicago Cubs), Trea Turner (Philadelphia Phillies), and Christian Yelich (Milwaukee Brewers).
