CHAVEZ RAVINE, CA — Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani discussed his key home run and the team’s recent string of comeback victories following their 6-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ohtani, whose performance continues to electrify fans, shared insights into his approach and the team’s spirit.

Ohtani’s crucial homer came in a pivotal moment. “We were behind, and there was a runner on first,” Ohtani said. “I just wanted to connect well and set things up for the two guys behind me. Luckily, I got a good pitch and made the most of it.”

Reflecting on the home run, Ohtani noted the significance of the moment. “It was a game-changing shot, and it felt great to make such an impact,” he said. “I knew it was a big moment for the team, and I felt confident at the plate.”

The Dodgers have shown a knack for late-game heroics, and Ohtani attributes this to the team’s high level of focus and camaraderie. “The team’s atmosphere and energy are really good right now,” Ohtani explained. “Today’s game was tough, with the lead changing several times, but we kept our concentration and managed to come from behind to win.”

He praised the collective effort and mental toughness of his teammates. “The team’s focus is really high, and it shows in games like these where we come from behind to win,” Ohtani added. “It speaks to the strength and resilience of the team.”

Ohtani also acknowledged the outstanding performance of teammate Teoscar Hernandez, who has been instrumental in many of the Dodgers’ recent victories. “Hernandez has had some amazing at-bats, both in the first half of the season and today,” Ohtani said. “He’s incredibly clutch, and he consistently delivers in crucial moments. His hitting has been exceptional.”

Despite his success, Ohtani announced that he would likely not participate in the upcoming Home Run Derby, citing his ongoing rehab and the physical demands of the event. “We talked about it, and considering my rehab, the volume of swings required is just too much,” Ohtani explained. “So, I probably won’t be participating this time.”

Ohtani’s focus remains on contributing to the Dodgers’ success and maintaining his health. “I want to help the team win a championship,” he said. “It’s not solely my responsibility to carry Major League Baseball, but I feel it’s important to prioritize my health and the team’s goals.”
