LOS ANGELES, CA — In Japanese, they say “yappari,” which roughly translated means “of course.” It only makes sense that the biggest name in baseball would lead jersey sales after joining a new team. And that’s exactly what happened.
MLB and MLB Players, Inc. (MLBPI) jointly announced the final tallies today, and as you might guess, the Boys in Blue are well represented. In addition to Ohtani at the top of the leaderboard, three other Dodgers made the top twenty: Mookie Betts finished 4th, Freddie Freeman was 18th, and in his 17th and perhaps final season, Cooperstown-bound Clayton Kershaw came in in19th place on this year’s list.

Shohei earned every penny of that licensing money. He had one of the most remarkable season in Dodgers history in 2024, hitting .310 with 54 home runs, 59 stolen bases and an OPS of 1.036. I mean who wouldn’t buy this guy’s jersey?
Yappari.
