Dodgers News: Ohtani’s Tank Job on Tuesday wasn’t just awesome; it was historic

LOS ANGELES — Ever since Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani showed up at Chavez Ravine, we could see the dude was built different. The ball just flew off his bat in ways that seemed inhuman. And, last night with his two-homer performance he continued to cement his legacy as a Legend of Dodger Baseball.

But one moment stood out, his massive two-run homer late in the bottom of the sixth to stretch the Dodgers’ lead to 8-0.

Now at the time, you might have said something like, “I’ve never seen a ball hit that far.” And as far as the postseason goes, you haven’t. Statcast confirmed today that Ohtani’s 454-foot blast was the longest homer hit by a Dodger since the group started tracking data (the so-called “Stat Cast Era”).

Hopefully, the two home runs on Tuesday were the first two of many as the Dodgers continue their quest to repeat as World Series Champs. We shall see. The series with the Reds resumes on Wednsday at 6:00 PDT. Ohtani will be facing Zack Littel, whose given up more home runs than any other pitcher this year. So you might want to tune in. I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’.
