Dodgers News: Quakes announce new affiliation with Halos

LOS ANGELES — There will be no more rehab starts in Rancho Cucamonga, Dodgers fans. As we already know, the Ontario Tower Buzzers are slotted to debut as the Dodgers’ Single A affiliate in 2026, which left the Quakes of Rancho Cucamonga temporarily homeless, affiliation-wise. Well, that has been fixed. Today, the thirty-year old Quake franchise has announced their new big league affiliation, and new colors. They are now officially the single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels (who are from Anaheim).
The move makes sense in a couple of ways. First, it’s only logical that the Angels would be looking for an affiliate close by, which seems to be the trend in professional baseball these days. It just makes it easier to send players on rehab assignmets when the affiliate is a short drive from the big leagues stadium. Their previous Single-A affiliate, the Inland Empire 66’ers will be the Mariners’ affiliate in the new year.
But it makes sense in a second way as well. prior to the Dodgers’ deal with the Quakes, Rancho Cucamonga was the Angels afilliate for a decade (2001-2010). So this new announcement represents a reversion rather than a new direction.
The names of former Quakes reads like a Who’s Who of Dodger greats, past and present: Will Smith, Walker Buehler, Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, and Joc Pederson all put in time in a Quakes uniform prior to breaking in with the Dodgers.
So good luck to the Quakes and their new bosses. As for Dodgers fans eager to see their favorites before they hit the big time: Ontario is still a short drive away.
