Dodgers News: Roberts Confident in Glasnow Ahead of Game Four Start

The Dodgers are hoping Glasnow can close the door on the NLDS today

LOS ANGELES, CA—Despite yesterday’s blowout loss in Game Three of the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is confident in his Game Four starter, Tyler Glasnow.

“I think he’s full-go,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Glasnow ahead of his Game 4 start. “It was nice to get him in there in Philly, but as far as kind of his buildup, I think it’s just a normal start.

“But we’ll just kind of read and react and see how he’s throwing the baseball.”

Glasnow had a strong finish to the regular season, and the Dodgers feel confident sending him to the mound in another elimination game against the Phillies.

Glasnow last started the final Saturday of the regular season in Seattle, where the right-hander only went a planned three innings as his final tune-up before the postseason.

While Glasnow would be included on the 26-man Wild Card Series roster, with the possibility of coming out of the Dodgers bullpen, our first look at Glasnow would not come until this past Saturday, when the right-hander pitched in relief in Game One after Shohei Ohtani.

The outing was a bit rusty as was to be expected, but still, Glasnow was able to toss 1.2 scoreless innings before the rest of the Dodgers bullpen closed it out, securing one of two critical wins at Citizens Bank Park.

Still, Glasnow has not had the best track record in the postseason, going 2-6 with a 5.51 ERA across eleven appearances with the Tampa Bay Rays.

It’ll be Glasnow’s first postseason start for Los Angeles on Thursday, after the right-hander missed all of October last year due to a right elbow injury.

Behind Glasnow will be a fresh Dodgers bullpen with arms like Emmet Sheehan, Roki Sasaki, and Alex Vesia all available after not being used in yesterday’s 8-2 loss.

Roberts and the team are ready to flush and move on to today’s game, as they are still in a great position to wrap up the series, being up 2-1 despite yesterday’s loss.

“It’s pretty close to being flushed already,” Roberts answered when asked when the Dodgers would move on from their Game 3 loss. “If you look back going into this series and said we’d be up 2-1, we would have banked it with Glas going in.

“I feel good with where we’re at. Would have loved to get Duran in the game tonight. I feel good where we’re at. And it’s certainly flushed.”
