The Los Angeles Dodgers wrapped up their final game of Cactus League play with a 10-4 win over the Cleveland Guardians, and now the team will prepare to head to Tokyo, Japan, to kick off the 2025 Major League Baseball season.
After the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed what some may already have assumed: 23-year-old rookie right-handed starting pitcher Roki Sasaki will start Game Two of the two-game series.
Sasaki will take the rubber in his home country, just as will Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game One, which was confirmed at the beginning of spring training by Roberts.
Sasaki only made two appearances in Cactus League games this spring, each of them scoreless in seven total innings, including today, where the righty threw a solid four-inning game, allowing just two hits.
Despite the brief appearances, Sasaki’s hype is through the roof in Dodger Land. The rookie starter is possibly the greatest international prospect in baseball history and was dominant in his two outings against the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians.
Like Yamamoto last season, Sasaki will make his Major League debut overseas, but he hopes to have better luck compared to his Samurai Japan teammate.
