LOS ANGELES, CA — Did you expect anything else? For the fourth time this year, is your National League Player of the week for the final week of the season. From Sept. 23-29 alone, Shohei tore it up, showcasing an impressive .520/.571/.800 slash line with one homer, four doubles, and seven RBIs. Ohtani helped the Dodgers clinch the NL West title and has shattered a handful of records along the way. Among them, he stole his 57th base, surpassing Ichiro Suzuki‘s record for a Japanese-born player in a single season. His 411 total bases tied Barry Bonds (2001) for fifth-most in a single season, adding to his already legendary résumé.

Ohtani closed out the year with a red-hot 12-game hitting streak, slashing .547/.586/1.057 during the run. This streak nearly pushed him to claim the NL batting title, where he finished second with a .310 average, just shy of Luis Arraez’s .314. With a league-leading 54 home runs and 130 RBIs, Ohtani was tantalizingly close to capturing the elusive Triple Crown. He now stands as one of only 23 players in MLB history to win at least 10 Player of the Week awards, further emphasizing his unprecedented success across both leagues.

In addition to his incredible performance at the plate, Ohtani’s speed on the basepaths and defensive prowess have been integral to the Dodgers’ success. He led the Majors in batting average and on-base percentage during his final week, and his 59 stolen bases, with a perfect record since July, are a testament to his efficiency and game-changing ability.

Ohtani’s four-time All-Star status, two-time MVP awards, and Rookie of the Year honors are just a glimpse into his impact on the game. He continues to break new ground with his multi-dimensional play, inspiring awe from fans and fellow players alike. His season not only boosts his personal accolades but also pushes the Dodgers to the forefront of championship contention.
