ARLINGTON — Two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani is expected to miss the three-game series against the Texas Rangers this weekend as he fly’s back home to await the birth of his first born child.
Ohtani and his wife Mamiko Tanaka, announced their milestone over the winter during the Major League Baseball offseason. With the news, Ohtani will be removed from the 26-man roster allowing the Dodgers to add another player in his place.
In Ohtani’s absence the Dodgers have selected the contract of veteran outfielder Eddie Rosario who signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers this offseason.
After not making the team in Spring Training, Rosario opted to stay with the organization and accept his demotion to Triple-A OKC.
The thirty-three year old outfielder has gotten off to a fast start this season hitting .339 with a .948 OPS, two home runs, twelve RBIs and three stolen bases in fifty-nine minor league at-bats.
The Dodgers have yet to announce the corresponding roster move to add Eddie Rosario to the 40-man roster.
