SAN FRANCISCO, CA—Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Shohei Ohtani will make his next start on Tuesday when the Dodgers host the Phillies at Dodger Stadium.
“Did you decide when Shohei is pitching?” Roberts was asked. His reply was short and clear: “Uh, he’s going to pitch Tuesday.”
The matchup comes at a critical time. The Dodgers as of today are trailing Philadelphia by 5.5 games for the second seed in the National League, which carries home-field advantage through at least the Division Series.
Ohtani has been sharp in his recent outings and now gets the ball against one of the NL’s top lineups. With the Phillies in town and the playoff race heating up, Tuesday’s start is set to be one of the biggest of the year for both Ohtani and the Dodgers.
