ARLINGTON— The Los Angeles Dodgers have been without two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani for the last two games as the three-time Most Valuable Player Award winner and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, welcomed their first child.
With Ohtani on leave, the Dodgers recalled veteran outfielder Eddie Rosario from Triple-A OKC. Rosario had filled in as the Dodgers’ designated hitter the last two nights, going 1-for-4.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Eddie Rosario, the Dodgers transferred young right-handed pitcher Edgardo Henriquez to the 60-day injured list.
Ohtani’s presence in the lineup will be welcomed, especially after the Dodgers’ walk-off loss in Game Two of the three-game series, which will set up a rubber match on Sunday.
In personal news, Ohtani announced on his Instagram that he and his wife had welcomed their daughter to the World and that he was thankful to his fans, teammates, and the Dodgers organization for their support.
