Dodgers News: Snell Shines in Latest Rehab Start

SACRAMENTO, CA— Sunday was yet another important day for left-handed starter Blake Snell as he continued his minor league rehab assignment with his third start against the Sacramento River Cats.
Overall, Snell tossed four innings of one-run ball, which was ironically a RBI single off the bat of former Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes, who signed a minor league deal with San Francisco earlier this month.
Despite the blemish, it was a solid day for the Southpaw, who spun fifty-eight pitches, scattering four hits and collecting six punchouts, bringing his total to seventeen K’s in just nine innings pitched across three appearances.
The next step for Snell is likely another rehab start with the OKC Comets or another minor league affiliate, and reaching the fifth or sixth inning. After that, Snell could rejoin the Dodgers before the calendar turns to August.
Snell has been on the injured list since April due to left shoulder discomfort and made just two starts for Los Angeles after signing a massive 5-year, $182 million deal over the winter.
Once Snell is activated, he’ll rejoin a Dodgers rotation that has been more productive as of late, which is likely due to them getting healthy. Clayton Kershaw returned in May, Ohtani returned in June, and Tyler Glasnow has looked sharp in his two outings so far this month.
