Dodgers News: Tanner Scott Absent from Game Three Due to Personal Reasons

Tanner Scott was away from the team prior to Game Three of the NLDS, per Dave Roberts

LOS ANGELES, CA—Notably absent from the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen for Game Three of the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies was left-hander Tanner Scott, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed after the game.

Many fans and the media questioned why veteran left-hander Clayton Kershaw was left in to pitch for two innings, despite looking shaky in the seventh and giving up five runs the following inning.

After the game, when asked where left-handed pitcher Tanner Scott was and whether he could have been used in that situation, Roberts then dropped the bombshell news that Scott was not with the team today, nor had he been introduced in the pregame introductions.

“Tanner was not at the ballpark today. There was something going on personal. It will come out later, but he was completely unavailable,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Game Three.

Scott has yet to play in a postseason game with the Dodgers. He ended the regular season with two consecutive scoreless outings but also recorded a career-high ten blown saves.

Scott’s struggles, combined with inconsistent performances by players like Blake Treinen and others, have led the Dodgers to use Tyler Glasnow, Emmet Sheehan, and Roki Sasaki in bullpen roles so far.

Roberts did not specify the reason for Scott’s absence or whether the left-hander would rejoin the team for Game Four.

If Scott doesn’t rejoin the Dodgers for Game Four, his next chance would be in a potential Game Five in Philadelphia or at the start of the National League Championship Series, unless he’s suddenly taken off the roster.
